Introduction to Yoga – 3 weeks course

With this course you will learn the basics of Vinyasa Yoga and Yin Yoga

Vinyasa yoga, in which movement is synchronized to the breath, is a term that covers a broad range of yoga classes. This style is sometimes also called flow yoga, because of the smooth way that the poses run together and become like a dance. The breath becomes an important component because the teacher will instruct you to move from one pose to the next on an inhale or an exhale. Vinyasa is literally translated from Sanskrit as meaning “connection”.

Yin Yoga – This style of yoga targets the deep connective tissues of the body (vs. the superficial tissues) and the fascia that covers the body to help regulate the flow of energy in the body. Yin Yoga postures are more passive postures, done mainly on the floor. Yin Yoga is unique in that you are asked to relax in the posture, soften the muscles and move closer to the bone. Yin offers a deeper access to the body. The time spent in Yin postures is much like time spent in meditation.

Practical Tips

  • Eat light before class

  • Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in

  • Arrive on time so you start your class relaxed

  • Inform your teacher about injuries or other conditions
