Tune into the Late Summer – Yin yoga and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with Katri

According to Chinese Medicine Late summer is all about grounding and balance and it provides us some excellent opportunities to nourish our bodies, especially the digestive system. This workshop will focus on Yin Yoga poses which stimulate flow of the Qi, in Stomach, Spleen and bring back harmony in out of balance emotions, such as worry and anxiety.

In a series of five workshops related to the seasonal elements of TCM (Earth, Metal, Water, Wood, FireKatri will help you deepen your understanding of Yin Yoga. Each workshop begins with theory, which is then followed by a long Yin Yoga practice that includes asanas appropriate to the season/element/corresponding organs. 

Tune into Late SummerAccording to TCM late summer is related to the Earth element. This period is about grounding and balance, and with the bounty of late summer fruits and vegetables we have an excellent opportunity to nourish our bodies, especially the digestive system. This workshop will focus on Yin Yoga poses which stimulate flow of the Qi in the stomach and spleen, and return harmony to out-of-balance emotions like worry and anxiety. We will also discuss how to nourish the Earth element with appropriate foods, and a printed handout will be provided.

Led by Katri you will: 

  • understand the relevant Yin-Yang meridians which work to balance the emotions and physical conditions associated with the particular season, element, and organs;
  • begin to understand the principles of TCM and how applying those principles to healthy living, through the practice of Yin Yoga, can improve your health and well-being in ways that are both subtle and dramatic
  • see how you can experience better sleep, stronger resistance to colds and flu, heightened energy and boosted mood, and better physical and mental flexibility resulting from the combination of Yin Yoga and TCM.
