This season is marked by the quality of stillness. We see it in nature: the plants have shrunken down, in many cases waiting beneath the ground before they seem ‘alive’ again. We can feel this in ourselves: our energy, so high and externally-focused in summer, turns inward.
And yet the demands of our busy lives keep stirring us up, taking us out of our still centre. Giving yourself the gift of silence
The transformational gift of silence, of stillness, is something you can give yourself this Winter.
Try: laying in bed an extra 5 minutes, just noticing your breathing. Or turning off your electronics for a 10 minute break during your work day or evening. Or taking that 20 minute walk – without your mobile or music – to just notice the world.
